Resolution

Adopted at The khalsa Tercentenary Seminar
Of the Institute of sikh studies
Held At
Gurdwara Singh Sabha Kanthala, Chandigarh
On 24th-25th October, 1998

“Recent meeting of the Education Ministers of all states called by Mr M M Joshi, Minister of Human Resource Development, has revealed the hidden agenda of the RSS to impose the majority religion and culture on the minorities through education under the garb of way of life and / or nationalism. If allowed to proceed, it would strangulate the minorities’ religious, ethnic and cultural values. Education Ministers from many states saw the hidden danger and walked out in protest against this sinister move.

“This gathering resolves that minorities’ rights, legal, cultural, ethnic and religious, as guaranteed in the (secular) Indian Constitution under Article 30 be protected. Any violation or dilution of their rights would be tantamount to infringement of state’s rights, since education is a state subject.”
