Impelled by the necessity of standard books imparting basic knowledge of Sikh religion to the youth, Ravinder Singh Sodhi has brought forth this small book of 79 pages in an effort to acquaint the youngsters with the basics of Sikh Religion. It is equally relevant for the grown up beginners who are ignorant thereof. The writer bemoans the lack of efforts by the Sikh organizations and institutions which neglected the downhill trend of youth going astray because of ignorance about the sublime massage of the Gurus, their lofty heritage and noble traditions and failed to produce preachers and literature which could halt the tilt towards precipice.
The author fully appreciates the psychology of student mind, gives all that an inquisitive student needs to know in a question answer form.
He begins with the question 'Who is Sikh' and tickles the curiosity of learners mind to know further about the Guru and everything that constitutes Sikhism. From this small book one can study and steady development of this new religion, contribution of Bhagats of different communities in Guru Granth Sahib the supreme treasures of guidance for the emancipation of the humanity.
This small text becomes a reference book for the authors because it records the places and period of events which took place during the evolution, of the Sikh religion as one of the major religions of the world. In addition to the basics of the religion the author in his own masterful way has explained some quotes from Gurbani which immediately capture the mind of its reader to deeply delve in, the message of gurbani thorough further studies.

This small book in Punjabi speaks volumes of the tenets of Sikhism. The book needs large circulation in the Punjabi knowing world, may be devout Sikhs or other having curiosity to know about the message of Gurbani.
The author, R. S. Sodhi deserves all praise and felicitation for producing much needed valuable books.
